Lori Henderson, Program Co-ordinator (left) receives a cheque from Strong Start participants Rachel Goodale and Jav Elfner, assisted by staff Site Co-ordinator Kezia Cooke-Brown. “Strong Start teaches reading skills and work with the Volunteer Coaches inspires confidence so that children believe they are capable and experience the joy of reading” observed Ms Cooke-Brown. Rachel and Jav represent the 13 children and 5 community volunteers involved in Strong Start programming at J.L. Mitchener School. The donation of $424.13 represents the proceeds from a student led “Spirit Day” and staff dress-down day contributions.
