Great news! The Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk region of Strong Start has been awarded a grant of $66,600.00 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. As a result, we will finally have the capital investment to create enough sets of program materials to implement the Letters, Sounds and Words in all of the elementary schools in our area. The materials will be ready to assign to schools to start the 2014-2015 school year.
We are most appreciative of this opportunity that has been provided by the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation! Please feel free to share the good news with colleagues and friends in other schools who have not yet had the opportunity to be a Strong Start school. Schools interested in being a part of the Fall, 2014 initial roll out are invited to contact Lori Henderson lhenderson@strongstart.ca to be placed on a priority list.
To support this increase in program implementation, we will need to double the number of volunteer coaches supporting the Letters, Sounds and Words program in schools. Please invite parents, community members and service club volunteers who may be interested in a meaningful volunteer experience to watch for postings of Fall training opportunities on the Strong Start website, Brantjobs or contact Lori Henderson to be placed on a training notification list.
