From its beginning Strong Start® has been a product of this community. Community supporters and community volunteers have figured prominently in the success of this literacy project. Over 1,700 young children in this past school year have been helped on the road to learning by over 1,500 volunteers. The financial, and other resources needed for the program, have been provided by a variety of donors from business, community organizations and individuals.

Joining us, once again, in our quest to ensure that all children learn to read is the firm of Josslin Insurance Brokers Ltd. With offices in New Hamburg, Kitchener, Wellesley and Tavistock, Josslin strives to be a responsible and caring member of the business community. We say “Thank you” to the Wagler family, owners of Josslin Insurance, for their commitment to Strong Start® and to the children of Waterloo Region.

When it comes to community organizations helping Strong Start®, the school councils of Westvale Public School and Mackenzie King Public School have proven to be real leaders. The parents and educators of these two councils have once again demonstrated their conviction that the whole community should be involved in supporting its children as they begin their journey toward life-long learning. Thank you Westvale and Mackenzie King for your donations.

What a delight it was to receive a donation from Dr. Charles Rand. Dr. Rand, a retiree, heard about the Strong Start® literacy project and sent a cheque to offer his support. Just another example of one of the many individuals in Waterloo Region rallying around the children of this community.
