Wendy Campbell and Al Tordjman, Resource Teachers with the Waterloo Region District School Board are always on a mission to find new resources to help children for whom English is a second language. They identified Strong Start® as a program that could help. Over the last year these Resource Teachers and the Strong Start® staff have been working to create a manual that will include special instructions so that the Strong Start® program can be used with new immigrant children ages 5-12 who have the challenge of learning to speak, read and write English all at once. We are excited to be ready to pilot this new component of our program in the spring of 2008 in a few schools!
