The 2013 Kitchener-Conestoga Rotary Club Dream Home was a “sell out” success thanks to an incredibly generous community! The home, located in prestigious Deer Ridge, was built with quality and exceptional design and dressed to the nines with stylish home décor. With a stunning home and three local charities as their inspiration, the Rotary Club of Kitchener-Conestoga hit this year’s Lottery out of the park! By selecting three charity partners including Grand River Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, and Strong Start Charitable Organization, they are making an impact in cancer treatment, cardiac treatment and children’s literacy. The total amount granted to these three charities was $382,500. Another $20,000 will be granted to other charities in the community by the Rotary Club. We were thrilled to be part of this year’s Kitchener- Conestoga Rotary Dream Home success story. We offer our sincere appreciation to the Rotary Club of Kitchener-Conestoga and its members, to the project partners and suppliers, the many volunteers and to all of those in our community who purchased tickets.

With the success of the Kitchener-Conestoga Dream Home Lottery, Strong Start has received a gift of $ 76,500. This gift provides the capital needed to create a new volunteer coaches’ training program and to purchase the new technology to deliver it. Each year Strong Start trains over 700 new volunteers who work one on one with children in Senior Kindergarten and Grade One, playing carefully designed games and activities, which help them, learn to read. Annually there are over 2,000 active volunteers who give over 31,000 hours of volunteer time, helping over 2,500 children acquire this essential life skill. On behalf of these children, their families and their volunteers we thank you.
